NEITHER LOST NOR QUIET is an artivist project created at the beginning of 2014 by some members of THE BLENDER COLLECTIVE, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This project aims to show the dissatisfaction that many Spanish emigrants feel about how the government is managing the current crisis in Spain. And we do it through the testimonies of some of the Spaniards who live in Edinburgh at the moment and through an action in front of the Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh using lost gloves as our symbol.

With this purpose, during three days we received any Spaniards who wanted to share their thoughts and experiences with us. These thoughts and experiences are reflected in the participants’ portraits and their artistic creations, which are shown in this website.

This way, the 22th of March of 2014, while Spain was marching for Dignity, we put all those lost gloves together to represent each of our personal stories. This action was made in order to demonstrate that even though we may feel a little lost, we are not and together we can make our voices heard.

Because we will not keep silent and put up with what is hurting us as individuals and as a country. We are many missing and mismatched gloves in this great city called the world and we are not willing to feel LOST or remain SILENT anymore.

The symbolism of the glove: For three consecutive winters some members of THE BLENDER COLLECTIVE collected lost and mismatched gloves found in the streets of Edinburgh. Those gloves came to represent the way many Spaniards currently living abroad feel about the actual Spanish situation. We feel mismatched, because of what we have left in our country for different reasons, and lost, not knowing what the future holds for us or our country.
